For Skin & Scale is KoboldCard's narrative-driven fantasy visual novel about survival, connection, and the weight of past mistakes. You control two protagonists—a human and an anthropomorphic dragon—as they orchestrate an escape with a group of younglings in tow, searching for sanctuary from the lives that haunted them. The dual-perspective storytelling means you'll inhabit both characters' viewpoints, gradually uncovering their distinct motivations and the circumstances that forced them into this impossible situation.

Gameplay centers on meaningful choice-making that ripples through the narrative. Rather than a linear experience, your decisions carry real consequences: you might navigate toward resolution or stumble into bad endings that reveal the stakes aren't trivial. The game emphasizes character development over mechanical complexity, prioritizing emotional resonance as these two men grow closer amid external pressure and internal conflict. KoboldCard designed this as an episodic project, with Chapter 1 (Part 2) currently available and future chapters planned based on player feedback and patron input.
