Potion of Desire sets you in Port Nocturne as Elara, an alchemist racing against time to brew a legendary cure and save her dying mother. Poddy's visual novel strips away the heroic fantasy tropes; instead, you're managing desperation. The core tension isn't combat or puzzle-solving—it's the fork between the legitimate Alchemist Guild (slower, safer) and the Velvet Syndicate (lucrative, morally corrosive). Every 30-day playthrough forces you to weigh survival against integrity, and the game doesn't let you pretend there are clean solutions.

Gameplay centers on resource management and branching narrative. You juggle time, gold, stamina, stress, and a corruption meter that ticks upward with each ethically dubious choice. The potion-brewing minigame uses temperature mechanics to break up dialogue sequences, and exploration opens locations like the Rusty Anchor tavern and the Salt Water Bathhouse. Scenes are unlockable and viewable in a gallery, so replayability is built in. The current version (0.4.0) is early-stage but content-complete enough to feel like a full experience rather than a prologue.

Poddy handles the adult content deliberately. Intimate scenes carry narrative weight tied to your route and corruption status; they're not isolated from plot. The game doesn't shy from darker themes—coercion, trafficking, substance use—and treats them as serious consequences of Elara's choices rather than kink flourishes. If that combination of moral weight and explicit content appeals to you, this is worth your time. The Ren'Py engine runs smoothly on Windows, Linux, and Android, and the UI improvements in recent patches show active development.

At 0.4.0, content is still expanding, so some quest lines and side stories are marked as coming soon. What's playable now holds up, but expect this to deepen substantially.
